Introduction to Kanak dancing at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre

At the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, an architectural jewel dedicated to Kanak culture, the Caledodreamers learn with surprise that they will be introduced to the mysterious "dance of the yam" by a famous local troupe, We Ce Ca! Dressed in traditional costumes and tribal body paint, the adventurers take their rehearsals very seriously. When the show begins, boys and girls go through their paces, fully immersed in their roles!

“It was quite moving, going into this large traditional Kanak hut: it made me feel quite small. There could hardly be a cooler place to learn pilou dancing with We Ce Ca.”
